Legal information

Acceptable use

Rules for lawful and secure use of hosting, email and other services.

Document date:

1. Prohibited activity

Prohibited uses include unlawful content or conduct, malware, phishing, credential theft, botnets, unauthorised access, DDoS activity, spam, impersonation, infringement and circumvention of security controls.

2. Resource abuse

Services must not be used in a way that materially destabilises shared systems. Persistent high load, mass scanning or uncontracted mining/proxy workloads may be rate-limited or moved to an appropriate service.

3. Email and messaging

Bulk messaging requires a lawful recipient basis, functioning opt-out and responsible sending. Forged senders, purchased lists and evasion of blocks are prohibited.

4. Reports and investigation

Abuse reports are logged and technically reviewed. ClearlyHost may request further information and preserve relevant evidence where legally permitted and necessary.

5. Protective measures

Where there is an immediate risk, affected functions may be isolated, credentials reset, outbound sending limited or service temporarily suspended. Where feasible, the customer is informed before or promptly after the action.

6. Authority and rights-holder requests

Requests are checked for authority, form and legal basis. Data is not disclosed solely because of an informal allegation where no legal obligation exists.
